Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be enjoyed in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, through a web account. The regulations are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the greatest mixture of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable bettors are able to select the most money-making ones each and every time.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences among individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
